netEquestrian is one of the most extensive online equestrian communities. We offer high quality equestrian products and unique gifts for horse lovers of all ages. In addition, we provide a horse classifieds and directory service to help connect horse people around the world. netEquestrian was established in early 1999 with the goal to provide the equestrian community a trustworthy source for quality in all aspects. In order to do so, we knew we had to create the most user-friendly equestrian site on the Internet, offer only quality products and hire the friendliest, most knowledgeable people.

Concern for the Environment
Spending time outside with our horses is something we're all passionate about at netEquestrian. It is very important to us to do whatever we can to preserve the environment so it stays green and beautiful. As a company, our policy is to make decisions that support the environment whenever possible. For instance, we only purchase recycled packing paper and boxes and won't purchase packing materials that aren't recyclable. We also try to re-use as much packing material from the shipments of inventory we receive; you may receive shipments that are packed with varying packing material in our effort to re-use. We also work with a local recycling company, Green Girl Recycling, to recycle all un-usable paper products, cardboard and glass and plastic.
Our Story
netEquestrian's story is unique. It is a family business started by a mother/daughter team. Cherie Volastro grew up riding and competing in the hunter/jumper circuit in Massachusetts and NY. Lois Volastro was the ultimate "horse show mom", and could be seen regularly with a rub rag hanging out of her back pocket, a horse in hand and a smile on her face. Cherie, her mom, and her sister, Elise, would get up at the crack of dawn from pony hunter days through serious competition in equitation and jumpers.
Cherie graduated from Dartmouth College where she was Captain of the Dartmouth Equestrian Team and earned a BA in Mathematics. Later on, she graduated from CU with a MA in Interactive Technologies Design. After 8 years of Internet Consulting, working in a cubicle designing websites for Fortune 500 companies, Cherie found herself spending too much time in the office and not enough time at the barn surrounded by what she was most passionate about… horses. When she did ride, Cherie found herself finally arriving at the barn at 8 or even 9PM to ride her horse Rooster, where she would be riding alone in the indoor arena late into the evening. She realized something had to change.
She identified a need for a well-designed website offering quality equestrian products and just as importantly, quality service. After a couple of years of toying with the idea, netEquestrian was officially launched in 2002. The day after Cherie walked out of her office in downtown Denver for the last time, she donated all her formal business suits to charity and told Bella, her horse at the time, that she'd be seeing a whole lot more of her.
Five years later, Cherie, the owner of netEquestrian, is currently responsible for the overall daily operations and strategy behind netEquestrian's rapid growth. She lives in Boulder, CO and can often be seen working with young H/J prospects, three of which she has personally sold by advertising on netEquestrian. She believes in running a responsible, green company. Elise, her sister, is a hunter/jumper trainer on the East Coast, based out of MA. Lois is actively involved with both daughters businesses, keeping her finger on the pulse of what's important to competitive riders, an element that has been critical to netEquestrian's success. The company truly is owned and run by a family of horse women. In fact, all netEquestrian employees are required to have a passion for horses; most are actively riding and competing at some level.
